Sport Logos

Sport logo design is usually precise, simple and cut to the chase kind of a thing. They are meant to exhibit allegiance, loyalty and dedication and thus become badges of honor for teams and fans. That’s why it’s important to take a look at the different aspects of sports logo designs and suggest what makes sport logos tick!

Before anything else a sports logo should adequately represent a team, its heritage, ambitions, and energy. A simple and straight forward way of doing this is to put the initials of the team or the entire name in the sports logos. Putting the team mascot into the sports logo is also a common theme these days.

One of the most important things to keep in mind for sport logos is to avoid highly complex and sophisticated designs. After all, sports fans aren’t your usual nerds and geeks. For example, take a look at the logos of New York Yankees and Chicago Red Sox. Similarly, hockey teams like Toronto Maple Leafs showcase in their iconic logo a Maple Leaf.

To attract and retain young sport fans, teams often need to keep their sports logo in line with trends, especially when it comes to colors. Additionally many sports logos depict the heritage of the team’s city. A good example of this in the NFL would be Pittsburgh Steelers.

I have assisted numerous teams of almost every sport with their team logos and mascot designs. My sports logos have provided them with an identity which they can recognize themselves with. Here at John Design, I create logos with simple concepts and high visual impact.
